Drugs Seizures South East Region- Update 30th March 2013

Male detained in Newbridge appeared at Naas District Court yesterday (29/3/13) charged in relation to this investigation.

Two males detained at Enniscorthy – One man due to appear before Gorey District Court this morning (30/3/13) Second man released without charge, file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Two males detained at Waterford – One man due to appear before Carlow Distrct Court this afternoon (30/3/13) Second man remains in custody.

Male and Female detained at Carlow – One man due to appear before Carlow District Court this afternoon (30/3/13) Female remains in custody.

As part of an ongoing operation targeting the sale and supply of cannabis in the South East Region Gardai have made 6 arrests and seized cannabis plants.

Gardai from the South East Region carried out a number of planned searched of houses this morning in Counties Waterford, Wexford, Carlow and Kildare. As a result of these searches 5 males and 1 female ranging in age from their 20's to 30’s were arrested. Cannabis plants with an estimated street value of up to €750,000 (pending analysis) were seized along with €60,000.

The 6 are currently detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Newbridge, Carlow, Enniscorthy and Waterford Garda Stations.
