As part of an on-going investigation into the cultivation and sale of cannabis in the Kilkenny area, Gardaí from the Thomastown and Mooncoin area searched premises yesterday evening 8th March 2013 and seized cannabis plants with an estimated street value of €750,000 (subject to analysis).
A premises was searched in the Glenbally Valley area of South Kilkenny and during the search, a male in his 40's was arrested at the scene and is currently detained at Thomastown Garda Station under Section 2 – Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
