Murder investigation in Athenry, Galway - four arrested

Gardai in Galway are investigating as murder the death of 40-year-old male following an incident in Athenry, Co. Galway, on the 30th May 2013.

At approximately 11.30 p.m. on the 30th May 40-year-old Krzysztof Ciesielski, with an address in Athenry and originally from Poland, sustained serious head injuries during an incident outside a house at Cullairbaun Estate.  He was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Galway where he was pronounced dead yesterday evening (5/6/2013).


A post-mortem examination was carried out earlier today (6/6/2013) by the Deputy State Pathologist Dr Khalid Jabber at U.H.G.


Gardai have made four arrests this evening (6/6/2013) in the Galway area as part of their investigation.


Two males aged in their teen’s are detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Galway Garda Station. A third male aged in his 40s also detained under Section 4 of  the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 is detained at Gort Garda Station and a female aged in her late 30s is currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939, at Galway Garda Station.
