Fatal road traffic collision at Athy, Kildare - third person dies

Gardaí can confirm that a third person, 85 year old James O Brien of Kilkea, Castledermot, Co Kildare, has died today (3rd June)following Friday’s crash near Athy, Co.Kildare. John was the driver of a car which was in collision with a motorcycle.

The two other deceased were 81 year old Betty O Brien wife of James O Brien and 29 year old John Doyle from Kilberry, Athy. This brings the number of people killed over the week-end to five and Gardaí are renewing their appeal for all road users to take extra care on the road.  

Gardai also wish to appeal to motorists who were travelling on the link road from Athy to the M9 between 1.30pm and 3pm on Friday 31st may and who may have witnessed this collision to contact Athy Garda Station on 059-8634210, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
