Update - Stabbing incident in Drogheda, Louth on the 9/1/13

A 21-year-old male is expected to appear before a sitting of Drogheda District Court tomorrow morning (11/1/2013) charged in connection with this investigation.

Gardai are investigating the circumstances of a serious assault in Drogheda, Co Louth on the 9th January 2013.

At approximately 4.15pm a 16-year-old youth was seriously injured when he was stabbed during an incident at Laurence Street, Drogheda.  The youth was returning home from school when the assault occurred.  He was taken by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.  

A male aged in his 20's was arrested and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at Drogheda Garda Station.  

An incident room has been set up at Drogheda Garda Station and investigating Gardai are appealing for witnesses.
