One man charged - Arson attack on a house on South Circular Road, Dunlin 8 on the 13/1/13

Gardai in Kevin Street investigating a suspected arson attack on a house on South Circular Road (SCR) Dublin 8 on the 13th January 2013 arrested a male (29yrs) on the 14th January.

He was detained at Kevin Street Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.  On the 15th January he was charged in connection with the incident and will appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice, Ct No 4 at 10.30am this morning, the 15th January 2013.


The incident occurred at approximately 10.20pm on the 13th January, when a male entered a property on SCR.  It is believed a flammable liquid was used to start the fire a number of occupants were in the house at the time of the fire.  Gardai promptly attended the scene, they believed an accelerant had been used to start the fire and believing the occupants to be in imminent danger utilised a ladder to extract the occupants from the building. Dublin Fire Brigade attended and extinguished the fire.  A female 24yrs received minor injuries and was treated at St James's hospital.
