Robbery at High Street Post Office, Cork City on the 12/12/13

Gardaí at Anglesea Street are investigating a robbery that occurred at High Street Post Office, Cork City, today, 12th December 2013 at approximately 9.20am.

Two males wearing motor cycle helmets entered the premises and produced, what was described as, a small hatchet and a claw hammer before threatening staff, causing extensive damage to the post office and taking a substantial amount of cash. They escaped on a high powered motor cycle, parked nearby, which was subsequently recovered in the Ballincollig area.
 

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone who was in the High Street area, Cork City, between 9am-9.30am, 12th December 2013, who may have observed a motor cycle with both driver and pillion passenger on board being driven at speed between High Street and Ballincollig to contact them on 021 4522000, The Garda Confidential Line 1800 666111 or any Garda Station.
