Update - Fatal shooting in Clondalkin, Dublin on the 24/8/13

Gardaí responding to a 999 call at 12.20am arrive at the scene of a shooting on Harelawn Green, Dublin 22, where they discovered a man in his 20s with gunshot wounds to the dead and body.

Gardaí and emergency services rendered medical assistance and the man was removed by ambulance to Tallaght Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 12.50am.

The area was sealed off and the office of the State Pathologist was notified. Dr. Michael Curtin the Deputy State Pathologist will carry out a post mortem examination later today and results of this will determine direction of the Garda investigation.

Gardaí later received a call alerting them to a black Vauxhall Vectra car on fire at Collinstown Crescent this car and surrounding area are also sealed off for forensic technical examination.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them. Harelawn Green is particularly busy area there is a pub and apartments nearby. Gardaí are also interested in the movements of the black Vauxhall Vectra, prior to it being abandoned at Collinstown Crescent. The registration is 99 DL 7997 and the car had tinted windows. Three men were seen running from this car.
