Fatal road traffic collision on the N54 at Aghnamallagh, Monaghan on the 12/8/13

Gardaí at Monaghan are investigating a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision which occurred on the N54 at Aghnamallagh, Smithborough, Co. Monaghan at approximately 09.30 a.m. this morning, 12th August 2013.

The vehicle involved had been travelling from Monaghan Town towards Smithborough, Co. Monaghan on the N54 when it collided with a tree. The sole occupant of the vehicle, a male, 21 years, was conveyed to Cavan General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.


The N54 is currently closed between Monaghan and Smithborough to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

 
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this collision or anyone who was on the N54 between Monaghan and Smithborough at the time of the incident to contact them at Monaghan Garda Station on 047 77200, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
