Armed robbery & arrests in Waterford on the 29/8/13

Gardaí at Waterford are investigating an armed robbery which occurred at a shop on Cork Road, Waterford at approximately 11.55pm last night (29/8/13).

One male entered the shop armed with a handgun, he threatened staff and demanded cash.  The alarm was raised and the culprit fled the scene in a dark coloured car in the direction of the Cork Road.  No money was stolen and no injuries sustained during the incident. 
 

In a follow-up search Gardaí arrested two males in their 30’s in connection with this incident.  A firearm was also recovered.  Both men are currently detained at Waterford Garda Station under the provisions of Section 30 Offences Against the State Act 1939.
