Fatal traffic collision, Co. Westmeath, 12th April 2013

Gardai at Mullingar are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision on the R390 near Loughnavalley, Co. Westmeath, (between Mullingar and Athlone) on the 12th April 2013.

At approximately 4.30 p.m. a male aged in his mid 20s was seriously injured when his motorcycle collided with a van. He was taken by Ambulance to Mullingar Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the van was also taken to hospital. (His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.)

Forensic collision investigators are currently examining the scene. The road is closed to traffic and diversions are in place.
