Armed robbery Clonee, Co. Meath 5th April 2013

Gardai have arrested three males and recovered a firearm following an armed robbery earlier today (5/4/2013) at Bracetown, Clonee.

At approximately 4.40 p.m. two males armed with a sawn-off shotgun and a screw driver held up staff in a commercial premises at Bracetown Industrial Estate. One shot was fired and an amount of cash taken before the raiders fled the scene in a waiting car. There was no one injured during the incident.

The car used in the raid was found abandoned by Gardai a short distance away. A firearm was also recovered.

During a follow up operation this evening in the Finglas area members of the Garda Organised Crime Unit arrested three males in connection with the incident.

The men who are all aged in their 20s are currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939, at Finglas Garda Station. (They can be held for up to 72 hours)

The investigation is ongoing and further updates will follow.
