Aggravated Burglary/ Artane Update - 20th April 2013

A 31 year old man arrested in connection with this incident was charged and taken before Dublin District Court this morning (20/4/13).

He has been remanded in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court on 24/4/13.

Gardaí at Coolock are investigating an aggravated burglary which occurred at a house in the Artane area of Dublin at approximately 12.30pm today (19/4/13)  

Two people (male & female) entered the house of an 80 year old man who was present in the house. They demanded cash and assaulted the man with a hammer. The elderly mans daughter arrived at the house and she too also assaulted with the hammer. Both injured persons were removed to Beaumont Hospital by ambulance where they are currently being treated for their injuries.  

In a follow up search a 31 year old man was arrested in connection with this incident and is currently detained at Coolock Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4- Criminal Justice Act 1984.
