Gardai at Sligo are investigating an aggravated burglary which occurred at a house on Old Market Street Sligo Town between 9pm on Wednesday the 19/9/12 and 9pm on the 21/9/12.
A male in his 60's was seriously assaulted in the course of the incident and was brought to Sligo General Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.
The scene has been preserved for technical examination.
Gardai are appealing for witnesses who may have seen anything unusual or suspicious around the Old Market Street area of Sligo between 9pm on the 19/09/12 and 9pm the 21/09/12 or anyone with information, to contact them in Sligo on 071-9157000, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
