Supporting Safer Communities Campaign

The 10th Garda ‘Supporting Safer Communities’ Campaign will take place from Tuesday 25th September to Tuesday 2nd October 2012.

This ‘Supporting Safer Communities’ campaign will primarily focus on:
* Crime Prevention/Reduction of Burglary
* Road Safety
* Supporting Victims of Crime
* Age Card Awareness

The campaign will see many local initiatives such as Garda station open days or Garda information clinics, as well as larger national events all aimed at improving community safety.

A joint collaboration between An Garda Síochána and LUAS, Dublin Bus and Bus Éireann will see a number of strategically located posters comprising crime prevention / road safety facts and tips on various platforms on the LUAS, Dublin Bus and Bus Éireann routes. These evidence based posters aim to raise crime / safety awareness to an estimated 1 million commuters over the course of the campaign.
An Garda Síochána believe a successful ‘Supporting Safer Communities Campaign’ can be achieved by visible, accessible and proactive Garda involvement, in the various community partnerships and crime prevention initiatives operating in their local areas.

This week offers an opportunity to all members of An Garda Síochána to actively engage and work with, all sections of the community, to achieve a common purpose of improved crime prevention and community safety during the autumn/winter months.

Further details on ‘Supporting Safer Communities Campaign’ will follow.
