Operation Wireless 20/09/2012 - Update

21 people have been arrested.

 

Gardaí can confirm that 21 people have now been arrested and in excess of 50 searched carried out today 20th September as part of operation Wireless.

The 21 arrests include the 5 people arrested on foot of European Arrest Warrants.

The operation is ongoing and further updates will be issued.

Operation Wireless was set up under the direction of Garda Commissioner Martin Callinan to target the criminal actions of a number of selected targets.

This morning Gardai carried out a series of searches as part of our investigation into organised crime within the Dublin Region.

This phase of operation "Wireless” involved members from Criminal Assets Bureau, the Garda Bureau of Fraud Investigation, National Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Garda National Drug Unit and regional detective units under the co-ordination of Assistant Commissioner, National Support Services in conjunction with Assistant Commissioner, Dublin Metropolitan Region.


An Garda Siochana are fully committed to the investigation of criminal activity nationally.  As part of this strategy we continue to target individuals involved in criminal activity.
5 people have been arrested (4 males and 1 female) on foot of European Arrest Warrants.  The female and one male are being held at Blanchardtown Garda Station and the 3 males are in Kilmainham, Bridewell and Ashbourne Garda Stations.

This search operation is ongoing and further updates will be provided at a later stage.
