Drug Seizure, Co. Limerick, 20/09/2012 - Update

Two men have been released from Garda custody.

Two men detained in relation to a drug seizure in Limerick have been released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Gardai in Limerick have arrested two men in relation to the discovery of cannabis herb and resin with an estimated street value of €630,000 (pending analysis) in Co. Limerick yesterday 20th September 2012.

Gardai stopped and searched a car on the Ballysimon Road at approximately 1pm yesterday and discovered approximately €500,000 worth of cannabis in the vehicle. In a follow up search a short time later, Gardai discovered approximately €130,000 worth of cannabis in a house in the Rhebogue area of Limerick.

Two men (early 30s and early 40s) were arrested in relation to the seizure. A man in his early 40s is currently detained at Henry Street Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Drug Trafficking Act 1996. A man in early 30s is currently detained at Bruff Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
