Attempted armed robbery in Ratoath, Meath on the 14/9/12

Gardai in Ashbourne are investigating an attempted robbery at a premises in Ratoath, Co Meath on the 14th September 2012.

The incident occurred at approx 1.45pm when a Cash-in-Transit (CIT) van was about to service an ATM machine at the rear of a premisies on Corballis shopping centre, which is on the Ashbourne side of Ratoath. 

Three males one armed with a firearm, another with a hammer threatened staff of the CIT van, the suspects fired one shot, no one was injured in the incident and no money was taken.

The suspects left the scene in the direction of Ashbourne in a white van partiall reg 00 G.... At the time of the raid  an orange pipe was tied to the top of the van.


Gardai in Ashbourne are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have seen the van described above acting suspiciously around Ratoath before the incident or as they left the scene, to contact them in Ashbourne on 01 8010600, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
