Update - Serious injury road traffic collision Co Westmeath 4th May 2012

Gardai are appealing for witnesses following a collision on the M6 motorway this afternoon.

At approximately 2.30 pm a male, aged in his 30s, was seriously injured when he was struck by a passing lorry travelling eastbound on M6 between Junction 5 (Kilbeggan) and Junction 4 (Tyrrellspass).

The man was taken by ambulance to the Midland Regional Hospital at Tullamore.

Forensic collision investigators attended the scene and the M6 has now reopened to traffic.
