Murder Investigation of Mark Hanlon, Cork on the 6/5/12

The 31 year old man killed at Infirmary Road in the early hours of this morning, 6th May, 2012, has been named as Mark Hanlon.

The post mortem took place this afternoon and the deceased died as a result of a stab wound to his chest.

The male and female arrested both remain in custody.  

Gardai would particularly like to appeal to people passing through Infirmary Road this morning, such as Taxi Drivers who may be able to assist or to anyone who knows anything about what happened to contact Anglesea Street Garda station

Gardai at Anglesea St. Cork are investigating a fatal stabbing which occurred at Infirmary Road shortly after 2am on the 6th of May 2012. The victim, a local man in his early thirties, was taken to Cork University Hospital by ambulance, and was pronounced dead a short time later.

The scene is  preserved pending forensic examination by Garda Crime Scene Investigators.

One male and one female, both in their 20s, were arrested close to the scene and taken to the Bridewell Garda Station, Cork where they are detained under Section 4 of Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the incident or anyone who may have information to contact them at Anglesea Street Garda Station on 021 4522 000.
