Body discovered in Waterford City on the 21/5/12 - Witness appeal

Gardai in Waterford are appealing for information following the discovery of a body of a man in Waterford City on the 21st May 2012.

The body of 22 year old Martin Brophy, from Waterford City, was discovered at approximately 6pm a at a vacant building on New Gate Street.
 

During a post mortem examination carried out this afternoon (22/5/2012), by the Deputy State Pathologist Dr. Kahlid Jabbar, it was established that Mr Brophy had died from injuries consistent with that of a serious assault. 
 

A technical examination of the scene is continuing and enquiries are ongoing.

 
Mr Brophy was last seen at approximately 4pm on Saturday the 19th May 2012 in the Poleberry area of Waterford City. Gardai are appealing to anyone with information as to his whereabouts, from Saturday 19th to Monday 21st May, to contact the incident room at Waterford Garda Station. 
 

Investigating Gardai also appealing to anyone who noticed any suspicious activity at New Gate St., New St., Brown’s Lane, John’s lane, Castle St. or Parliament St. in recent days to contact them.

Gardaí are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body of a male, aged in his 20's, in Waterford City this evening (21/5/2012).  

The discovery was made at approximately 6pm at a disused building on New Street.  The scene is currently sealed off pending a full Garda Forensic Examination and the State Pathologist has been notified.  An incident room has been set up at Waterford Garda Station.
