Drugs seizures and arrests in West Dublin and Meath on the 31/5/12 - Court appearance

Gardai in Blanchardstown have charged all three men in relation to the drug seizure that occured in West Dublin on 31st May 2012.

All three men will appear at Blanchardstown District Court this morning 1st June, 2012 at 10.30a.m. charged in relation to the incident.


Two men remain in custody, one in Ballymun Garda Station and the other in Navan Garda Station.

As part of today’s operation a further search was carried out at a house in Navan, Co Meath, this afternoon.

During the search cannabis plants with an estimated street value of €100,000 (pending analysis) was seized.

A man aged in his 40's was arrested at the scene and is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996, at Navan Garda Station.

This is the 5th person arrested during today’s operation.  Four men arrested earlier today in West Dublin remain in Garda custody.

As part of an ongoing investigation targeting the activities of criminal groups involved in drug trafficking, Gardai carried out a search operation in West Dublin on the 31st May 2012.

During the operation, which involved members from the Blanchardstown Division and the Garda National Drugs Unit,  searches were carried out at houses in Blanchardstown, Mulhuddart and Clonsilla.  Cannabis plants and herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of €1.5 million (pending analysis) was seized along with cash €20,000.

Four men aged in their 30's were arrested during the operation.

They are currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act at Blanchardstown and Ballymun Garda Stations.
