Suspicious device discovered in Cork on the 5/7/12

Gardai at Mayfield are appealing to the public for information following the discovery of a suspicious device on the Old Youghal Road on the 5th July 2012.

The device was placed under a parked motor car and discovered at approximately 1am yesterday morning (5/7/2012). The area was evacuated for a number of hours and the device, which is described as viable and dangerous, was made safe by the Army EOD team.

Gardai are appealing for information and in particular to anyone who noticed any activity in the vicinity of the Old Youghal Road (near to The Cow Bar) on the evening of 4th July into the early hours of the 5th July to contact them. They also wish to speak to a male caller who made a number of calls to Anglsea Steet Garda Station on the emergency line in the early hours of Thursday 5th July.
