Organised Crime Operation Dublin 5th July 2012

Three men arrested as part of yesterdays Organised Crime operation in Knocklyon are expected to appear before a sitting of Dublin District Court (Chancery Street) tomorrow morning (7th July) charged in connection with the investigation.

A woman arrested during the operation has been released without charge pending a file to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

As part of an ongoing investigation into the activities of criminal groups involved ‘cash in transit’ robberies detectives form the Organised Crime Unit of the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation supported by National Units carried out a search and arrest operation this afternoon.

During the operation Gardai intercepted and searched a motor car in the Knocklyon area of Dublin and recovered sawn-off shotgun and sledge hammer. Three males, two aged in their 20s, and one in his 30s, were arrested at the scene. A female, aged in her 20s, was also arrested as part of the operation.

They are currently detained under section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939, at Tallaght and Rathfarnham Garda Stations.
