Fatal traffic collision in Co. Cork on the 5/7/12 - Victim named

Gardaí have named the person who died in the collision at Clounties, Co Cork yesterday afternoon (5/7/12) as Sister Mairead Murphy, 80 years from Kilkenny.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses following a fatal traffic collision on the 5th July 2012.

The collision occurred between a lorry and a car at approximately 15.20 hrs at Clounties, on the Dunmanway to Bantry Road.  A female believed to be in her 80's and the sole occupant of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.  The male driver of the lorry was removed to Cork University Hospital with minor injuries, his passenger was uninjured.

Garda Forensic collision investigators have been called, the road is closed and diversions are in place.
