Update – Fatal Assault Mullingar 23rd December 2011

Two males, aged in their 20s, and one female, aged in her late teens, are expected to appear before a sitting of Mullingar District Court this afternoon (27/2/2012) charged in relation to the above incident.

A man seriously assaulted during an incident at Pearse St. Mullingar, on the 23rd of December 2011, was pronounced dead this evening (1/1/2012) at Beaumont Hospital. He is named as 20 year old Andrew Dolan from Carrick-on-Shannon.  

Investigating Gardai are continuing to appeal for witnesses who may have been in the vicinity of Pearse Street, Mullingar, on 23rd December between 2a.m. and 3a.m. to come forward.

Gardai in Mullingar are appealing for witnesses in relation to a serious assault that occurred on Pearse Street, Mullingar at 2.40a.m. on Friday 23rd December, 2011.   
  

A man aged 20 years was seriously assaulted and removed to Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar and later transferred to Beaumont Hospital, Dublin and is in a critical condition.     
  

Three persons, two men (21 and 20 years) and one female (aged 19 years) were arrested and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Mullingar in relation to this incident and have since been released without charge.  A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
