Shooting in Blanchardstown, Dublin on the 1/2/12 - Court appearance

A man will appear at Blanchardstown District Court at 10.30 am on 3rd February charged in relation to a shooting incident at Whitestown Avenue on the 1st February.

The victim remains in hospital.

As the result of a 999 call Gardaí from Blanchardstown went to a house on Whitestown Avenue where it was reported that a shooting had occurred.

On arrival at the house a 25 year old man was discovered with a firearms injury to his face.  He was taken to Connolly Hospital.

A follow up investigation determined that the actual shooting had occurred on Whitestown Park and that scene was preserved as well as the one on Whitestown Avenue where the man was found.

An operation was put in place and a house was searched on Whitestown Park resulting in a 31 year old man being arrested.

He is presently detained at Blanchardstown Garda Station under section 30 of The Offences Against the State Act.
