Murder of John Kenny, Galway - Arrests

Gardaí investigating the murder of John Kenny last night, Thursday 2nd February 2012, arrested 2 men in Cork City.

The arrests were made with the assistance of local Gardaí and the Regional Support Unit.


Both men were taken to Millstreet Garda Station where they were charged in relation to the murder.  They are aged 17 and 36 years and will appear before a special sitting of Galway District Court this morning at 10.30am.


7 arrests had previously been made in relation to this investigation.

A Post Mortem Examination had been carried out on the deceased man, 56 year old John Kenny and the results show that he died as a result of an assault.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them at Oughterard Garda Station.  Anyone with information should contact 091 557320 or any Garda Station.

Gardai in Oughterard, Co. Galway are investigating all the circumstances following the discovery of the body of a male in his mid 50’s at a premises in Oughterard at approximately 6pm this evening.   

The area has been sealed off for a technical examination and the offices of the State Pathologist has been notified. The body remains at scene.
