Fatal Shooting incident in Tallaght, Dublin on the 7/2/12 - Appeal

Gardai investigating the fatal shooting of a 16 year old girl at Brookview Way, Tallaght are appealing to the public for information.

The incident occurred on Tuesday the 7th February at 10.30 pm. 
 

The victim was a rear seat passenger in silver Nissan Almera which was parked on Brookview Way.  A black Hyundai Santa Fe SUV/Jeep (07 D registration) pulled along side the Almera and at least one shot was fired injuring the female victim. 
 

The Hyundai Santa Fe left Brookview Way and turned right onto Fortunestown Lane in the direction of City West.  A few minutes later it was found abandoned on the roadway close to Brownsbarn. 
 

The victim was driven to Tallaght General Hospital in the Nissan Almera and was pronounced dead at 1.15 am.  A post mortem examination is being carried out at Tallaght General by the Deputy State pathologist Dr. Khalid Jaber. 
 

Gardai are appealing for anyone who was in the Brookview Way, Fortunestown Lane or Brownsbarn areas either before or directly after the shooting to contact them.  Anyone with any information is asked to contact the incident room at Tallaght Garda Station on 01 666 6056 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.

A Press briefing will be held at Tallaght Garda Station at 12 noon today (8/2/12) in relation to the fatal shooting in Tallaght last night.

Gardai are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting of a female in Tallaght on the 7th February 2012.

At approximately 10.35pm a 16 year old female sustained serious injuries when a firearm was discharged from a passing vehicle into the parked car that she was a passenger in at Brookview Way, Tallaght. She was taken to Tallaght Hospital where she was later pronounced dead. Her body has been removed to the mortuary at Tallaght Hospital for a post mortem examination and the State Pathologist has been notified.

An incident room has been set up a Tallaght Garda Station and investigating Gardai are appealing for witnesses.

The scene is preserved pending a full technical and forensic examination.
