Fatal house fire in Hacketstown, Carlow on the 23/12/12

Gardaí are investigating a fatal house fire at Mountain View, Hacketstown, Co. Carlow.

A 50 year old woman was pulled from the house by her 20 year old son who had returned home at 4.30 am to find the house on fire. The woman was later pronounced dead.

Her body has been taken to Waterford Regional Hospital where a post mortem examination will be held.

The scene is preserved for a technical examination which is underway. Early indications are that the fire started accidentally.
