Missing person - James Sheehan, Arklow - Update

Gardaí in Arklow would like to thank the local community for their assistance in the continuing search for 18 years old James Sheehan.

Today's searches are being carried out with the assistance of the Garda Water Unit, the Boyne River Rescue, Civil Defence, and the local community.
 
Searches today will be carried out in locations in Arklow town and the surrounding areas. Some of these areas (such as the reed beds at the Avoca River) could pose potential risks. As a result of this we would ask that the local community allow the trained personnel present to carry out such searches of these areas.
 
Due to the intensive nature of today's searches, media briefings will not be provided locally, all queries are to be directed to the Garda Press Office.
 
Also any major developments will be issued as a release from the Garda Press Office.

NOTE: Please be aware that the search of the Avoca River is not predicated on a specific line of enquiry, however best practice requires a 1500m radius search from where a missing person is last seen. The river falls within this radius.
