Man charged in relation to murder of Mario Rostas 5th April 2012

Gardai investigating the murder of Marioara Rostas have this evening the 5th April 2012 charged a male in his early 30s.

He had been arrested earlier in the Dublin area. He will appear this evening the 5th April before a special sitting of Ct No 44 Bridewell at 8pm.

Gardai investigating the murder of Marioara Rostas have renewed their appeal to the public for assistance with their investigation.

The body discovered at Kippure in the Wicklow Mountains on Monday the 23rd of January has been positively identified as that of Marioara Rostas who went missing on the 6th of January 2008. She was on Lombard Street East, Dublin 2 along with other members of her family and was last seen getting into a car.

Following a 13 day search of a wooded area at Kippure in the Wicklow Mountains her body was discovered buried. Initial results of the post mortem show that she died as a result of gunshot wounds.

Speaking at Pearse Street Garda Station, Chief Superintendent Michael O’Sullivan said "the discovery of Marioara's body was a significant step forward in the investigation and we are determined to bring those responsible to justice".

To date seven (7) people have been arrested as part of this investigation.

Gardai are appealing for anybody with any information or anybody who knows what happened to Marioara Rostas to come forward.

In particular gardai are anxious to speak to two people who made anonymous phone calls as follows:

-         2/06/08 – phone call from a male was received at Pearse Street Garda Station from County Wexford.

-         23/09/08 – Phone call to the emergency 999 system from a female caller.
