Explosives recovered at disused quarry in Midleton, Co. Cork on the 9/4/12

As part of an ongoing investigation into the theft of metal in the Cork North Garda Division, Gardai in Midleton carried out a search at a disused quarry on the outskirts of Midleton this afternoon.

During the course of this search, Gardai recovered a small quantity of old type commercial explosives. The area was made safe by the army EOD team from Collins Barracks in Cork and investigations into the findings are continuing.
