Drug seizures in Dublin and Kildare on the 30/3/12 - Further Update

A man aged in his 30s is due to appear before a sitting of Blanchardstown District court this morning (2/4/2012) charged in relation to this incident.

The male in his 40's who had been detained in Clondalkin Garda Station in relation to the drug seizures in Dublin and Kildare has been released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

As part of an operation involving the Garda National Drugs Unit, Officers from Revenue Customs Service assisted by Gardai from Ballyfermot searches were carried out at premises in Ballyfermot west <_st13a_city><_st13a_place>Dublin and Newbridge Co. Kildare this afternoon (30/3/2012). <_o3a_p>

During the searches Herbal Cannabis and Cannabis Resin with an estimated street value of € 6.5 million (subject to analysis) was seized. <_o3a_p>

Two men aged in their 30s and 40s were arrested following the search in Ballyfermot. They are currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug <_st13a_personname>Trafficking) Act, 1996, at Clondalkin Garda Station.

The operation is ongoing and further updates will follow.
