Taxi drivers dispute to resume on the 2/10/09

Motorists are advised to avoid the City Centre and surrounding areas.

 

Following today’s (1/10/09) Taxi Drivers dispute in Dublin City Centre An Garda Siochana understand that this protest will resume tomorrow morning - Friday, the 2nd October  2009 from 7am. 

 

Motorists are advised to avoid the City Centre and surrounding areas as there will be a number of diversions in place as a result of this dispute.

 

Traffic congestion is expected.

 

There will be parking restrictions in place from early morning. 

 

Motorists should plan their journey in advance and listen to traffic updates.

An Garda Siochana understand that a protest will take place by a group calling themselves “The Irish Taxi Council” on October 1st 2009. 

 

Taxi drivers from different centres throughout the country are meeting at Naas at 6.00am.

 

They will proceed to Dublin where it is believed they intend to travel to the department of Transport on Kildare St.

 

Motorists are advised of disruption on the M7, N7 & M4 primarily and other routes approaching the city centre.

 

There will be parking restrictions on Merrion / Fitzwilliam Square from 6.00am. 

 

Motorists should plan their journey and listen to traffic updates.
