Fire at a house in Newbridge on the 4/10/09 - Witness appeal

Appeal for assistance from the public in relation to this incident

 

Gardaí at Newbridge investigating the fatal fire at a private house in Pairc Mhuire housing estate in Newbridge are appealing for assistance from the public in relation to this incident.

 

As a result of the initial investigation including an examination by member of the Garda Technical Bureau one line of enquiry being followed is that the fire may have been started deliberately. 

 

A Post Mortem of the deceased man is scheduled to take place later this evening at Naas General Hospital.

 

Gardai would like to hear from anyone who was in the area between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. or who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously or who may have any information to offer that would assist are asked to contact Gardaí at Newbridge Garda Station 045 440180, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

Gardai in Newbridge are investigating the circumstances of a fire at a house in Pairc Mhuire, Newbridge on the 4th October 2009 at approx 6am.

Gardai and the Fire Brigade were alerted by neighbours to a fire at the house at Pairc Mhuire at approx 06.05hrs.There were 3 occupants in the house at the time of the fire; all 3 were taken to Naas General Hospital. One of the occupants an 81 yr old male was later pronounced dead. The two others a male in his late 40s and a female in her early 70’s are described as being in a stable condition.

The scene is currently being preserved pending a technical examination.
