Drug seizure and arrests at the M1/M50 junction on the 1/10/09

During a search of this car approx. 10 kilo of cannabis resin was uncovered.

 

Gardai from the Balbrigan Drug Unit assisted by Divisional Units stopped a car at the M1/M50 junction on the 30th Sept 2009 at approx. 15.50hrs.

 

During a search of this car approx .10 kilo of cannabis resin (subject to analysis) was uncovered, approx. value €60,000.

 

Two males (one in mid 50,s the other mid 20,s) were arrested and conveyed to Balbrigan Garda Station where they are currently being detained under the provisions of Sec 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act.

A total of five people have now been arrested following a PSNI Organised Crime Branch operation which began in the Sprucefield area of Lisburn on September 30 2009.

 

The operation, which was assisted by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs and An Garda Siochana, uncovered drugs with estimated value of over £280,000 at Sprucefield. One man was arrested. In  follow up searches in Ballykelly and Ballyronan, two women were arrested and class A and B drugs worth over £30,000 were seized. Two men were later arrested by An Garda Siochana in the Republic of Ireland.
