Serious assault at Gorey, Wexford on the 14/11/09

Two males were injured during the incident at Fort Road.

 

Gardai at Gorey, Co. Wexford are investigating a serious assault incident which occurred at Fort Road, Gorey at approximately 2.40am on Saturday morning, the 14/11/09.

 

Two males, one aged 40 and the other aged 26 year were injured during the incident at Fort Road.  Both injured men were taken to Wexford General Hospital, however the 40 year old was subsequently transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin with serious head injuries.

 

It is believed that a number of people attended the “Mezz Nightclub” at Pearse Street, Gorey including the injured parties.

 

In a follow-up operation four men were arrested in connection with this incident and detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.  Two men aged 18 and 26 were arrested in Gorey on 15/11/09 at 4am, a further two men, aged 23 and 19 were arrested in Gorey on the 15/11/09 at 8pm.

 

The 18 year old man appeared at a special sitting of Gorey District Court on Sunday 15/11/09 charged with an offence under the Non Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, he was remanded on bail to appear before Gorey District Court on 3/12/09.

 

The 26 year old man was released without charge.  The two other men remain in custody in Enniscorthy Garda Station.
