The Gardai investigating the murder of the Romanian woman found in the Phoenix Park have named her as Eugenia Bratis, 50 years, from Timisoara, Romania. She has two children, both in their 20's living in Romania.

Gardai would like to take this opportunity to thank the media and all the members of the public who have come forward and helped with this investigation to date.

However we are again appealing for help in this investigation, as we are still trying to establish the movements of Eugenia in the weeks prior to the discovery of her body in the Phoenix Park on Wednesday 5th August 2009.

We have established that Eugenia has visited Ireland on a number of occasions since 2007, and in recent months had been seen begging in Dublin City, mainly on O'Connell Bridge and O'Connell Street in the centre of Dublin.

We are asking for anybody who knows Eugenia or who was in contact with her or who saw her at any stage, to contact the Gardai in Cabra at 6667400, the Garda Confidential Line 1-800-666-111 or any Garda station.

A new photograph of Eugenia is available on request by email to the Garda Press Office.
