Discovery of body of David Sharkey, Finglas on the 17/5/09 - Update

Garda detectives from Finglas and Navan have sealed off an apartment in the Blackcastle area of Navan, Co. Meath.

 

Garda detectives from Finglas and Navan have sealed off an apartment in the Blackcastle area of Navan, Co. Meath in relation to the investigation into the murder of 28 year old David Sharkey.

The services of the Garda Technical Bureau were requested and they are at scene at present.

A 26 year old man has been arrested and is being detained at Navan Garda Station under section 4 of The Criminal Justice Act.

The body of a man discovered in Finglas last night has been named as 28 year old David Sharkey with an address in the Claremont Estate, Navan, Co. Meath.

The post mortem has been concluded but the results are not being released for operational reasons.

Gardaí are investigating the discovery of the body of a man believed to be in his 20s at about 10.00p.m on the 17th of May 2009.

The body of the man was discovered by Gardaí in the boot of a car, which was found crashed at St. Joseph's Park, Finglas.

The body remains at the scene pending the arrival of the State Pathologist.

The scene of the incident is preserved for forensic technical examination.
