Murder of John Carroll in Dublin on the 18/6/09 - Arrest

He was arrested in the Dublin 8.

 

Gardai investigating the murder of John Carroll on the 18th February 2009 have this morning (9/6/09) arrested a 27 year old man.

He was arrested in the Dublin 8 area and is currently detained at Kevin Street Garda Station under Section 30 of The Offences Against The State Act.

Gardaí at Kevin Street are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred shortly after 9.30pm last night in Grumpy Jacks, The Coombe, Dublin 8.

Two males on a motorcycle pulled up outside the public house and the pillion passenger went inside and singled out  a 33 year old man.  He then shot him a number of times at short range with a handgun.

The injured party was taken to St James Hospital where he died a short time later.

Both suspects were wearing helmets and made their getaway on the motorcycle in the direction of Dean Street.

The scene is preserved pending a full technical examination and investigations are ongoing.

No arrests have been made.
