Assault on Parnell Square, Dublin on the 18/6/09 - Victim dies

A female who was the victim of an assault on Parnell Square East on Thursday, 18th June 2009 has died.

 

A 31 year old female who was the victim of an assault on Parnell Square East on Thursday, 18th June 2009, died this afternoon, the 25/6/09 in Beaumont Hospital.

 

The State Pathologist has been notified and a post mortem will take place tomorrow, the 26/6/09.

 

There have been 2 arrests in relation to this incident.

 

A 34 year old female was arrested Tuesday, 23rd June 2009, and was subsequently released later that day without charge.

 

A file will be prepared for The Director of Public Prosecutions.

 

The second arrest was made this morning, the 25/6/09.  It was of a 32 year old man and was made in the Clondalkin area of Dublin.

 

He is presently being detained under Section 4 of The Criminal Justice Act at Store Street Garda Station.

 

Gardaí are renewing their appeal for public assistance in relation to this incident.

 

Anyone who was on Parnell Square East on Thursday, 18th June 2009, between 2pm and 2.30pm and who may have witnessed this incident is asked to contact Gardaí at Fitzgibbon Street on 01 6668455, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

The Gardai in Fitzgibbon Street are appealing for witnesses to a serious assault which occurred on the 18th of June 2009 at approx 2.15pm on Parnell Square East near the entrance to the Rotunda Maternity Hospital.  A young lady was seriously assaulted and is currently in hospital in a critical condition.
