Shooting Incident at Summerhill, Dublin on 7/1/09 - and updates.

Gardai are investigating a suspected shooting incident at Summerhill in Dublin on the 7th of January 2009.

 

Gardaí investigating the murders of Michael Cronin and James Maloney in Summerhill, Dublin 1 earlier this month have this morning (15/1/09) arrested five people in connection with this investigation.

All five (3 females & 2 males) were arrested in the North Inner City of Dublin and are detained at the Bridewell, Coolock, Store Street and Mountjoy Garda Station’s under Section 30 Offences Against The State Act.

Gardai at Fitzgibbon Street Garda Station investigating the shooting in Summerhill on the 7.01.09 have confirmed that the second male who was seriously injured has dies this afternoon at St James Hospital.
Gardai wish to renew their appeal in relation to any one that may have seen a male described as being between 5ft 6 and 5ft 9 in height of medium build in his early to mid 20’s. He was possibly wearing some type of sports gear or tracksuit which had a silver stripe.

It is believed this man travelled on foot down from Summerhill Road onto Gloucester Place and possibly onto Sean Mc Dermott Street.

They are also keen to speak to anyone that may have seen a Black Volvo S40 sport car, registered number FD 54 CEY. This is an English registered car and the rear number plate has a yellow background which may assist witnesses.

Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have information in relation to this incident or who may have observed this man or this car in the area to contact them at incident room in Fitzgibbon Street Garda station 01- 6668432, the Garda confidential number 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.

Gardai at Fitzgibbon Street garda station have issued a witness appeal in relation to the shooting incident at Summerhill on the 07/01/09.

Gardai are investigating a suspected shooting incident at Summerhill in Dublin at 8.40 p.m on the 7th of January 2009. Gardai were called to the scene following a report of a traffic collision and found two men injured in a car.

The men, who are in their late twenties and early thirties were taken by ambulance to St James’s and the Mater Hospitals. The injured man who was taken to The Mater was subsequently pronounced dead .The other man is described as seriously injured.

The area is sealed off for forensic examination and an investigation is underway.
