Seizure of firearms in Limerick on the 26/1/08 & update.

Further to previous press release we can confirm that the Army bomb disposal team have completed their examination of the suspect package.

 

Further to previous press release we can confirm that the Army bomb disposal team have completed their examination of the suspect package found at the scene near Childers Road.

The package contained what is described as 4 viable pipe bombs.

Gardai are continuing to investigate the origins and source of the firearms and explosives found.

As part of the ongoing investigation into serious crime in the Roxboro Road Garda District area in Limerick planned searches were carried out in an open area off the Childers Road this evening the 26.01.09.

As a result, two sawn off shotguns, a rifle and a quantity of ammunition were recovered. A suspect package was also recovered. An Army EOD team has been requested and is awaited.
