Fatal fire in Windgap, Kilkenny on the 25/12/08 - and updates.

The investigation into the fire and deaths at the family dwelling of Sharon Whelan and her daughters Nadia and Zarah at Roscon, Windgap, Co. Kilkenny on the 25th December 2008 is continuing.

 

Gardai investigating the murder of Sharon Whelan and her daughters have arrested a female this morning the 16th of January 2009. The woman who is in her late teens,is detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against The State Act at Kilkenny Garda Station.

As part of the investigation into the murder of Sharon Whelan and her daughters Nadia and Zarah at Roscon, Windgap, Co. Kilkenny on the 25th December 2008, Gardai have arrested a man.

The man was arrested late this afternoon the 15th of January 2009 and is detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Kilkenny Garda Station. (He may be detained for up to 24 hours.)

Gardai are renewing their appeal for anyone with any information to contact them at Kilkenny Garda Station on 056 777 5070.

The investigation into the fire and deaths at the family dwelling of Sharon Whelan and her daughters Nadia and Zarah at Roscon, Windgap, Co. Kilkenny on the 25th December 2008 is continuing.

The post mortem examination of the victims of the incident has been completed. The bodies have been released to the family by the Coroner for the City and County of Kilkenny.

The forensic and technical examination of the scene of the fire at Roscon is continuing and analysis of the information collected is ongoing.

The Gardai have already interviewed a very large number of people in Roscon and surrounding areas with a view to establishing the full facts. Investigating Gardai continue to receive excellent support and cooperation from the local and broader community.
