Gardai from Gurranabraher Gardai station on routine patrol in the Blarney Road area of Cork City stopped and searched a motor car at about 8.20 pm on the 25th of January 2009. A small quantity of what was believed to be cannabis herb was discovered and a man in his late 20's was arrested.
In a follow up search at a warehouse in an industrial estate on the northside of the city at about 10.00 p.m., Gardai seized 1,200 cannabis plants which were being cultivated in the building. The plants subject to analysis may have a street value of 360,000 Euro.
The arrested man is detained at Gurranabraher Garda station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
