Drug seizure outside Portlaoise, Laois on the 11/1/09.

As part of an ongoing operation targeting drug dealing, Gardai have seized drugs.

 

As part of an ongoing operation targeting drug dealing, Gardai from the Tipperary Divisional Drug Unit assisted by local Garda Units and the Portlaoise Traffic Corps have seized drugs with an estimated street value of €117,500 (subject to analysis).

 

A van was stopped shortly after 2pm on the 10/1/09 outside Portlaoise and found to contain 5kg of cannabis resin along with 5kg of cannabis grass estimated to have a street value of €95,000, subject to analysis.

The 34 year old male driver was arrested at the scene and taken to Thurles Garda Station where he is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act.

 

Gardai then conducted two follow up searches on houses in the Borrisoleigh area of Tipperary and found further quantities of cannabis resin and herb with an estimated street value of €18,500 along with heroin with a estimated street value of €4,000. 

 A 32 year old male was arrested at the scene and brought to Templemore Garda Station where he is currently detained under section 2 of the Criminal Justice ( Drug Trafficking) Act.
