Gardai from the Detective Unit at Dun Laoghaire Garda Station conducted a planned search of a house in Monkstown Valley, Monkstown, Co. Dublin on the 31/12/08 at approximately 11.50am.
During the search a large amount of cannabis resin was seized, believed to be valued at € 140,000 (subject to analysis). Two males, aged 33 and 31 were arrested at the scene and detained at Dun Laoghaire Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice ( Drug Trafficing ) Act 1996.
This morning (01.01.09) at 10.30am a 33 year old male appeared before Dublin District Court charged in connection with this incident. He was remanded in custody to appear on the 8.01.09 at Cloverhill District Court.
The 31 year old male was released without charge last night (31.12.08) and a file will be prepared for the Director Of Public Prosecutions.
