Drug seizure in Finglas area, Dublin on the 26/1/09.

As part of a planned search Gardai from the Finglas Drug unit assisted by Divisional Crime Task Force Units and the Garda Dog Unit conducted a search on a house in the Poppintree area of Ballymun at on the 26/01/09.

 

As part of a planned search Gardai from the Finglas Drug unit assisted by Divisional Crime Task Force Units and the Garda Dog Unit conducted a search on a house in the Poppintree area of Ballymun at approximately 11pm last night the 26/01/09.

During the course of the search approximately 50,000 of what is believed to be ecstasy tablets (subject to analysis), with a potential street value of €500,000 was discovered.

Three males, two in their early twenties and one a juvenile, were arrested at the scene and are detained at Blanchardstown (2 males in 20’s) and Finglas Garda (juvenile) stations under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act.

They can be detained for a period of up to 7 days.

In a separate incident, gardai from Lucan assisted by gardai from Ronanstown stopped a car in the Neilstown area last night (26.01.09).

The car was searched and a quantity on what is believed to be heroin was discovered. In a follow up search on a house in Neilstown shortly after 9pm a further quantity of heroin was discovered.

In total, heroin with an estimated street value of €100,000, subject to analysis, was seized.

A male juvenile was arrested at the scene and is currently detained at Ronanstown Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.  He can be detained for a period up to 24 Hours.
