Attempted Robbery Security Van

Gardai at Clontarf are investigating an attempted armed robbery which occurred at about 7.45am this morning the 20th of January 2009, at the Vernon Avenue/ Clontarf Road junction in Dublin.

 

Gardai at Clontarf are investigating an  attempted armed robbery which occurred at about 7.45am this morning the 20th of January 2009, at the Vernon Avenue/ Clontarf Road junction in Dublin.

Three masked raiders attempted to rob a security van which was delivering cash at an ATM.  At least one shot was fired during the incident and an employee of the security company was injured in the foot.  The three raiders fled the scene empty handed

The injured man, who is in his mid twenties, was taken to The Mater Hospital for treatment.

Crime scene examiners have closed the road temporarily while the scene is technically examined.

Gardai at Clontarf are asking anyone who was in the area to contact them on 01 6664800.
